Backpacker's Pad Thai
Add a little variety to your backpacking meals with this version of backcountry pad thai, lovingly titled "Poor Man's Pad Thai" by backcountry photographer, Adam Foss.
 
For those maximizing calories in the backcountry, this concoction can pack up to 1000 calories into a delicious meal far from the comforts of your home kitchen.  


Ingredients

  • 1 Bag of Top Ramen (170 cals per serving - 340 in recipe total)
  • 1 Bag of Off Grid Food Co’s Original Jerky  (70 cals per serving - 140 in recipe total)
  • 2 Packets of Yum Butter’s Peanut Butter (270 cals per serving - 540 in recipe total) 
  • 1 Travel-Sized Tabasco Sauce Bottle (2 cals per tspn - 4 in recipe total)

Instructions

  1. Boil appropriate amount of water for ramen in your backcountry stove
  2. Cook Top Ramen for 3-minutes, or until noodles are cooked
  3. Drop in jerky for your meal and allow to rehydrate in ramen for 2-3 minutes
  4. Take ramen and jerky off of heat and mix in both packets of peanut butter
  5. Add Tabasco sauce to taste
  6. Slurp away at your backcountry creation
