This month, Bigfoot's Choice is a new meal company called Stowaway Gourmet
In the summer of 2017, the folks at Stowaway Gourmet were preparing for a backcountry adventure in Grand Teton National Park. They wanted to settle down at the end of a long day of backpacking and enjoy a delicious meal worthy of the experience but felt there were no such meals available commercially.
They combined many years of commercial kitchen experience and the culinary influences from nearly a decade of living and traveling abroad to craft their own gourmet meals for the trip. They were a hit! Since then, they’ve created backpacking meals unrivaled for taste and handcrafted from scratch using a full kitchen technique, in Tillamook, Oregon. If you're looking for a new meal in your pack, you've got to check them out.
Sans Meal Bars
Fan favorites Sans Meal Bars (@sansmealbar) are BACK in the February Backcountry Fuel Box. This time with a new flavor and the classic PB & J. They’ve reworked their formula recently to improve the texture of the bar and remove “natural flavors” as an ingredient. The result is one of the cleanest ingredient labels available in the bar or meal replacement category. We suggest you addd these to your REAL meal replacement bar repetoire.
Treeline Coffee Roasters
Treeline Coffee Roasters takes pride in providing an excellent coffee experience in every cup. They’re inspired by the concept that coffee should fuel you to do the things you love. To brew their GEO coffees: simply tear the top off the filter along the tear line, open up the pouch and hook each “leg” on opposite ends of your cup and slowly pour 6-10 oz of boiling water through the filter.
Remove when ready to drink. Enjoy!
Damn Good Jerky
Beef jerky is one of those classic snacks for hikers, hunters, campers and anglers and one of our favorites. Unfortunately, most of the jerky available is stereotyped as being chewy and hard to tear with your teeth. Luckily, Damn Good Jerky (@damngoodjerky) was able to create stuff that’s tender and flavorful. Yeah, no more trail chaw. Just great tasking, easy to chew strips of beef.
Once Again Nut Butter
Once Again Nut Butter prides itself on offering a wide selection of nut and seed-based products. They run the gambit of seen and nut-based single-serving packets for your backpack, so be sure to snag these either online or at one of their many retail spots, like Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, or even Safeway.
Thunderbird Bars
By using only 4 types of ingredients (fruits, nuts, seeds, spices, and absolutely nothing else) Thunderbird Real Food Bars (@thunderbirdbar) let's you indulge your cravings while elevating your health in the mountains. These are some bars you don't have to sacrifice taste for nutrition.
